Following on from yesterday’s post about the Royal Wedding spirit in Blenheim Crescent, one of its fine shops is offering the chance to win some fantastic Wedding souvenirs!
The Travel Bookshop has sold out of all of its Kate and William memorabilia even before the big day today. They have, however, kept back a small selection of items for the winners of a competition they are running.
Couples are being asked to recreate the Royal Wedding balcony kiss on the bench outside the Travel Bookshop over this double Bank Holiday weekend, posting photos of their version of the kiss on The Travel Bookshop’s Facebook page (http://on.fb.me/jsaJFb). One winning entry will be picked on Tuesday, 3rd May.
The Travel Bookshop, as you all know, was the inspiration of the bookshop featured in the romantic comedy Notting Hill, in which the two main characters, William (Hugh Grant) and Anna (Julia Roberts) meet for the first time at the bookshop that William owns and runs. As such, the real life Travel Bookshop is very used to seeing romantic gestures from people hoping to recreate some of the film’s magic – even marriage proposals!
Established in 1979 by writer, publisher and traveller Sarah Anderson, the Travel Bookshop is an important part of Notting Hill’s wonderful cultural and literary life.

Congratulations to the winner. I envy those who got hold of Kate and Will or Royal Wedding memorabilia. By the way, is it true that the The Travel Bookshop will be closing down?
