Kensington & Chelsea Music Society Concert tonight, 7.30pm

The first in the 2010-2011 season of Kensington & Chelsea Music Society (KCMS) concerts takes place tonight at Leighton House at 7.30pm, with a wonderful concert well-suited to the start of the season. Laura Samuel (violin) and Luis Parés (piano) will be performing Debussy’s Violin Sonata (1917); Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 7 in C minor, Op.30, No.2; and Sonata in A by Franck.

London-born Laura studied at the Royal College of Music in London, and was a member (and co-founder) of the Belcea Quartet for 16 years. She has recently joined the prestigious Nash Emsemble, and also performs solo work. Venezuelan/Italian pianist Luis has appeared at a number of famous British venues and has also performed with several distinguished orchestras, including the Caracas Symphony Orchestra, the Barcelona Wind Band and the Cambridge University Chamber Orchestra.

This season is also the 50th anniversary season of the KCMS, and the society is delighted to return to its usual home, the wonderful Leighton House in Holland Park, following extensive refurbishment work there.

Tickets cost £18 (£15 for Friends and students) and the price of a ticket includes the a glass of wine/fruit juice in the interval. Tickets can be purchased at We Got Tickets.
