Featuring 10 bouts (5 x safety, 5 x full contact), this charity fight night is being held in aid of The Dalgarno Trust, a local community development organisation. The first event of this type for the charity, this promises to be an enthralling night of white collar boxing between local boxing clubs (Stonebridge Boxing Gym, Kings Urban Boxing Gym, Gym Box and Star Gym) and some of the best athletes in the area.

The Dalgarno Trust delivers a wide variety of services in the local community that help health; children, youth & family; enterprise; community engagement & education; and learning & employment. Through a range of services and activities that offer education, employment and training opportunities, they enable people from diverse backgrounds to change their lives, fulfil their potential and break the cycle of poverty, ill health and deprivation. They also seek to create strong, inclusive and active neighbourhoods and to develop long-term, sustainable communities through social enterprises, small business and entrepreneurial activities.

Taking place every three months, the next instalment of the W10 Games will be held on Saturday 6th June – bringing together individuals and teams made up of local residents and businesses in a fun fitness event!

This community focused initiative pitches teams against each other in a series of fitness challenges that include different elements of strength, endurance, skill and mental staying power. Each coach leads their team through a series of rowing relays, squatting and skiing challenges, as well as burpees and the dreaded Airdyne thrown in too.

Attendees have varying fitness levels, so the W10 Games aren’t just about pitching the best athletes against each other – but rather, the event is designed to be challenging and to provide everyone with a focused and slightly competitive fitness outlet.

W10Games2

This free event is now open for registration, and it’s a great opportunity for a great workout in an unbeatable atmosphere. Whether you’re a regular gym goer, part of a running group or want to get together with some colleagues for some team building, think about signing up!

Above all, however, the W10 Games are designed to be fun and to bring the W10 community together, so there’s a chance for a bit of socialising afterwards too.

For more information or to reserve a place, please email info@w10performance.com or call 020 3489 5428.

On Tuesday 11th October, charity auction night Art 4 Freedom will aim to raise funds for charities that support victims of human trafficking, one of the largest organised crimes in the world with 27 million people (half of which are children) still in modern-day slavery. Charities that will benefit from funds raised on the night include ECPAT UK and the A21 Campaign.
Auction items include sports memorabilia from former England captain Michael Vaughan and former England cricketer Ken Taylor, plus artwork from established and up-and-coming artists such as Charlie Mackesy and Gerard Stamp. The evening will be hosted by Sky Sports News presenters Charlotte Jackson and Simon Thomas, whilst the auction will be conducted by Antony Weld Forester, Managing Director of Sotheby’s Edinburgh. The evening will start will live music, drinks and canapés at 7pm with the auction itself starting at 8.30pm.

The Row For Freedom team (from L to R): Helen Leigh,
Katie Pattison-Hart, Andrea Quigley, Julia Immonen (team leader),
Kate Richardson and Debbie Beadle

The evening will also be an opportunity to learn more about the Row For Freedom challenge (a Sport Against Trafficking event) that takes place in December. Row For Freedom will see six ordinary women take part in the Woodvale Challenege, one of the toughest rowing races in the world. They aim to row 3,000 miles across the Atlantic – unaided! – in a bid to raise awareness and put an end to human trafficking. The challenge will also be a double world record attempt, with the crew aiming to be the first female six and the fastest female crew to row from the Canary Islands to Barbados.
Tickets for the auction cost £25 and are available from www.justgiving.com/Art4Freedom.
