‘SEE WHAT I SEE’ Success @ J/M Gallery, 230 Portobello Road

Twiggles is pleased to announce that her second photographic exhibition, ‘See What I See’, which ran from 5th to 11th July 2023 was a triumph. It was dynamic, it was diverse and it rocked to the beat of the several late-evening DJs spinning the decks at J/M Gallery on Portobello Road.

Sally Twigg AKA Twiggles started partying in London in 2015. After five years of dancing and meeting like-minded individuals – she changed careers and went to India on an eat-pray-love-esque journey, following which she decided to capture by camera the immersive world that she delved into each weekend whilst searching for that elusive thing called freedom. So Twiggles started photographing moments. Moments of nightlife – of the stars, the socialites and the characters that frequented the London club scene. In her natural element, Twiggles captured portraits, parties, as well as more abstract works.

‘See What I See’ showcased the diversity of Twiggles’ photography as an artist with a unique perspective, one which imbues itself into her various subjects and settings. There is a story behind each frame, yet the story a viewer may read is entirely their own. Twiggles’ creative approach to composition and lighting provides a fascinating, technically-skilled, insight into her nocturnal world. To mirror one of her favourite shots, @zincstyles mirrored the electric blue in one of the hung pictures with a mural painting across the street. The opening party was followed by two nights of live music, owing to the lovely Lilita and the spoken words of Jazzi Sirius, and ended with a Saturday Q&A, as well as a fire-cracker afterparty at the renowned Laylow.
