Through their artwork, Wu and Gothi explore and intertwine naturalistic elements with vibrant colours, creating a world that is situated between daydreams and memories, between longing and desire. Drawing on their own interpretations and observations, their works also reflect unique perspectives on creativity, juxtaposing reality and fantasy, evoking suppressed emotions and hoping to escape from reality to a dreamland.

The styles of Wu and Gothi are symbolised in narrative and storytelling, using vivid colour and striking composition to lead viewers on a journey to dreamscapes that are wondrous and that appeal to a sense of both reality and imagination in moments of solitude. Today’s uncertain and emotionally challenging macro-environmental changes, such as the pandemic, regional wars, and social issues of contemporary society, have opened up their sense of creativity and explore themes related to their longing for a better past and their questioning of where a real dreamland can be found. Their complex observations and fragile emotions stem from their layered memories, aspirations and desires, and their subconscious influences are embodied in their unique story and techniques on canvas. They still hope for an escape to their own dreamland or utopia.

A one-hour artist talk will be held at the gallery at 6pm on Saturday 22nd April. Attendance is free and tickets can be booked here.
