On 25th March 2023, the Classical Choirs of the Addison Singers will be embarking on a new era of music-making with their new MD, Matthew Thomas Morgan.
They will take this opportunity to reflect on the transitions in life and beyond. ‘Reflections on Life’ sees both the Chamber and Oratorio Choirs tackle a wide range of British repertoire. The Chamber Choir will perform Howell’s intimate and heartfelt ‘Requiem’, which, after composition, was left unknown and unperformed for much of the twentieth century.
The Oratorio Choir will open the concert with Vaughan William’s ‘Let us now praise famous men’, a bold and rumbustious setting of this text. We can also look forward to Finzi’s setting of this text and delving into his Festival Anthem; ‘Lo, the full, final sacrifice’, which takes inspiration from Richard Crashaw’s metaphysical poetry.
They will conclude our programme with John Rutter’s much-loved Requiem. The evening will be accompanied by the Organ by Francesca Massey and include Tom Shelley on cello.
Tickets for the concert can be purchased online at https://www.wegottickets.com/f/13026. The concert will take place at St Peter’s Church, Southfield Road, W4 1BB.
