For those leaning towards an Italianate feel this Easter, why not pop along to Carluccio’s in Notting Hill (108 Westbourne Grove, W2 5RU) to take home one of their selection of wonderful Easter eggs, or to dine-in and try out the specials on the Spring menu? There’s something for kids to enjoy too, with a Easter biscuit decorating class taking place next week!
Carluccio’s Easter egg range includes their Uovo Grande (£17.95) and Uovo Decorato eggs (£6.95), both of which come in dark, milk and white chocolate. For something a bit more unusual, the Uovo alla coque (£2.95) is made from dark chocolate and hazlenut paste and is topped with white chocolate – so it looks just like a soft-boiled egg! The Lepre di Cioccolato (£6.95) is their version of the Easter Bunny, also available in dark, milk and white chocolate, whilst their chocolate fish (£2.50 or £5.95) are decorated in pretty colours and come in two sizes. For the real chocaholics – and Easter egg lovers – amongst you, why not treat yourself to the amazing Uovo Grandissimo which, as you may guess from its name, is a giant of an egg – 5kg in weight! This dark chocolate egg, hand-decorated with the classic Italian Easter greeting, costs £145.
As mentioned, the Notting Hill branch of Carluccio’s will also be hosting an Easter activity for kids. On Thursday, 14th April between 10am and 11am, the caffe will be holding an biscuit decorating class for children where they can show off their creative talents whilst parents enjoy a choice of breakfast with unlimited tea, coffee or orange juice. The class costs £15 per adult and child, and £7.50 for each additional child. Kids can also enter a colouring competition to be in with a chance of winning one of the giant 5kg Easter eggs! (Each caffe has one egg to give away.)
If you’d like to sample some of the treats from Carluccio’s spring menu, head to any branch to try delights such as torta pasqualina (savoury tart filled with spinach, eggs and
artichokes), the branzino in cartoccio (whole baked seabass with herbs) or the stinco d’agnello (braised lamb shank with celeriac and carrot puree). A three-course menu plus a glass of wine is as little as £15, whilst there’s also a special kids’ menu for £6.25, which includes an activity pack to keep them amused at the table!
