The next Addison Singers Classical Choirs concert will take place on Saturday, 8th July at St Peter’s Church, W4. Titled Serenade to Summer, this feast of music will reflect on the summer season both in the town and country.
The Chamber Choir will present two short choral cycles both of which reflect on the rose and its wider symbolism. Concertgoers can look forward to hearing the ravishing harmonies in Mealor’s Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal and the radiant Les Chansons des Roses by Morten Lauridsen.
The Oratorio Choir will present a wide-ranging tour of pastoral and urban scenes in Bob Chilcott’s Songs and Cries of London Town and Cecilia McDowall’s light-hearted A Fancy of Folksongs. They shall also perform Vaughan Williams’s famous Serenade to Music which will feature soloists from within the choir and showcase their rich tutti choral sound.
Matthew Hough will perform Chopin’s Nocturne in C minor (Op. 48, No. 1) and Poulenc’s Nocturne (No. 4 Bal fantôme).
One or two other surprises may pop up in the programme as well!
Tickets for the concert are priced at £18 (plus booking fee) for general admission and £3 (plus booking fee) for under 16s. Tickets can be bought online at www.addisonsingers.com/event/classical-summer-2023-concert.
