To commemorate 30 years of peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Firefly International<\/a> will host an evening called Echoes for Peace<\/em> on Saturday, 13th December 2025 at St Columba\u2019s Church, Pont Street, London SW1X 0BD. The evening will be a mix of music, film and reflection, and will also mark 30 years since the organisation’s founding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the Bosnian war ended three decades ago, peace remains a fragile and unfinished promise. Through powerful performances and personal stories, Echoes of Peace<\/em> will explore the legacy of conflict and the urgent need to protect and nurture peace in today\u2019s fractured world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Like peace, music is built through collaboration – each voice and each instrument coming together to create something greater than the sum of its parts. The concert\u2019s inspiring line-up embodies this spirit, uniting global traditions and experiences in an uplifting celebration of resilience and unity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Firefly International still works to support young people in communities affected by war and displacement. From its roots in post-war Bosnia to projects in the Middle East and beyond, Firefly fosters peace through grassroots education, arts, and cross-cultural collaboration. Proceeds from Echoes of Peace<\/em> will support Firefly International\u2019s ongoing work with young people affected by conflict – empowering communities through education, creativity, and connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Echoes for Peace Highlights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A new and ground-breaking ensemble, the One World Orchestra,<\/strong> brings together extraordinary musicians from across the planet now living and working in the UK. Fusing diverse musical traditions into euphoric, genre-defying performances, they create a soundscape that celebrates multicultural Britain and the universal language of music.<\/p>\n\n\n

Syrian violinist Bassel Hariri<\/strong>, from Aleppo, represents over 130 years of Sufi and classical musical heritage. Displacement from Syria led him to reconnect with Arabic classical traditions, blending them with jazz, Celtic, and gypsy influences to create deeply expressive music that bridges cultures and challenges stereotypes.<\/p>\n\n\n

Bassel Hariri<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

A moving short film by Aleksandra Bili\u0107<\/strong>, The Score<\/em> tells the story of her mother Maja\u2019s enduring connection to the piano left behind when their family fled Sarajevo in 1992. The pair will join us to discuss life as refugees in the UK, the making of the film, and perform Maja\u2019s original composition – a poignant testament to memory and hope.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Score – Film Screening and Discussion<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Writer and journalist Phoebe Greenwood<\/strong>, former foreign correspondent for The Guardian and Vice News on HBO, will guide the evening. Having reported from conflict and disaster zones around the world, Greenwood brings empathy and insight to stories of war, resilience, and renewal. Her acclaimed debut novel Vulture draws on her experiences covering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.<\/p>\n\n\n

Tickets cost \u00a330 for adults and \u00a315 for those under the age of 30. Children under the age of 18 go free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
