This weekend (Saturday 20th and\u00a0Sunday 21st September 2014), the wonderful Open House London<\/a>\u00a0sees many fascinating buildings across London opening up their doors, allowing visitors a peek at spaces, areas\u00a0and more that would normally be closed to the public.<\/p>\n

\"St<\/a><\/p>\n

Joining in, on Saturday 20th September, is St John’s Church in Notting Hill. From 12pm to 5pm, the Church will be\u00a0welcoming visitors\u00a0through its doors and opening up two spaces in the church that have never been made available to the public before.<\/p>\n

The church’s\u00a0organ recently underwent a complete restoration, and this Saturday visitors\u00a0will be able to actually go inside the instrument\u00a0and\u00a0see all 2,398 pipes up close as well as taking a look\u00a0all of the complex mechanisms inside…and hear it being\u00a0played from the inside! The organ builder that worked on the job will be present to\u00a0talk visitors through the organ and its restoration, as well as answering any questions visitors may have.<\/p>\n

The disused church bell tower will also be opened up this Saturday, allowing visitors a chance to climb to the top and see the 150 year old bell and clock mechanism as well\u00a0as taking in the wonderful panoramic views of West London.\u00a0As the bell tower has been closed for a number of decades now, this is\u00a0definitely a fantastic opportunity to visit a normally closed space\u00a0as well as taking in\u00a0a view of the local area that’s now rarely seen.\u00a0The bell will also be tolled whilst visitors are in the belltower!<\/p>\n
