The film Notting Hill<\/a><\/em>, starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts, was released in late Spring 1999, the “sequel” to the enormously popular Four Weddings and a Funeral<\/em>, both of which were written and produced by Richard Curtis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notting Hill<\/em> had much in common with its predecessor. According to Richard Curtis, it seems that there are certain roles that must exist in a film:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– the bumbling Englishman (Hugh Grant in both)
– the glamourous American (Julia Roberts and Andie MacDowell)
– the dim-but-ever-so-sweet gentleman
– the wise, slightly more serious woman
– the completely kooky-in-a-nice-way girl<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I joke, of course. I personally wasn’t quite as enamoured with Notting Hill<\/em>as I was with Four Weddings<\/em>, but it’s a good film nevertheless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are plenty of locations featured in the film that can be seen in the area. If you’d like an organised tour of these – as well as of locations of other movies that have been partially filmed in the area (such as About A Boy, Sliding Doors, The Italian Job, Love Actually<\/em>\u00a0and others) – why not go on the Notting Hill Tour<\/a>? Tours run twice a day every Saturday from March to November!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
