As to be expected, there are countless places to eat in the area – some very affordable, some pretty exclusive, some famous for one reason or another – that we couldn’t possibly name every single place. However, here’s a list of restaurants in Notting Hill that we think are well worth checking out.

Chicken Shop
88 Notting Hill Gate, W11 3HP
Website
: chickenshop.com
Underground: Notting Hill Gate

Wonderfully tasty fried chicken served in a variety of ways – in burgers, wraps, as wings and tenders, atop a rice bowl – accompanied by incredible fries and excellent homemade sauces. Just the thing for a quick bite to eat for a longer, social meal with the whole family or friends! Take a look at our longer review: Review: Chicken Shop, Notting Hill Gate.

The Churchill Arms
119 Kensington Church Street, W8 7LN
Website: www.fullers.co.uk
Underground: Notting Hill Gate

Actually a pub (so do also pop in for just a drink, if you’re not in the mood for a bite) with a fantastic atmosphere – the kind of place where everyone probably would know your name, if they could. Serves delicious Thai food at very reasonable prices. Absolutely beautiful in the summer when the outside of the pub is covered in flowers. An equally fancy-but-different exterior in the winter months!

Electric Brasserie
191 Portobello Road, W11 2ED
Website: www.electricbrasserie.com
Underground: Notting Hill Gate
Next to the cinema of the same name, this is one of the prime eating spots in Notting Hill. Vast menu serving modern fare, including breakfasts. A great place to come for a glass of wine and a small meal with a friend – pick something from their “small plates” selection. Recommended.

Hereford Road
3 Hereford Road, W2 4AB
Website: www.herefordroad.org

Underground: Notting Hill Gate, Bayswater or Royal Oak
Down a relatively quiet residential road, this smartly presented Notting Hill restaurant showcases fantastic English produce and cooking. Some of the dishes on the ever-evolving menu may come across as slightly unusual – such as pigeon terrine or oxtail – but it’s a perfect opportunity to try something a little bit different…and very English, of course.

Hummingbird Bakery
133 Portobello Road, W11 2DY
Website: www.hummingbirdbakery.com

Underground: Notting Hill Gate
Once upon a time, we poor Brits had to do without American-style cupcakes…and then the Hummingbird Bakery came along and we were deprived no more! Serving up delicious vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with thick, creamy icing…is your mouth watering yet? A selection of other yummy cakes and various sweet things also available to eat in with coffee or takeaway. Recommended as a stop on your way to or from Portobello Road market.

Pescheria Mattiucci
8 Blenheim Crescent, W11 1NN
Website:
www.pescheriamattiucci.com
Underground: Ladbroke Grove
A fresh concept, unique to London, Pescharia Mattiucci is a fish boutique run by Italian brothers Luigi and Gennaro Mattiucci. All dishes are created in a traditional Neopolitan style, using products from Southern Italy, and are also served in a traditional Southern Italian way: sliced raw with olive oil, lemon and salt. Strongly believing in healthiness and sustainability, the restaurant only uses fish that is line-caught and sourced with skill and care from the Mediterranean, will all other products also organic. Best of all, each catch is transported from fishermen’s boats in Sicily, Naples and Sardinia to Notting Hill in less than 12 hours, meaning the freshest selection possible! There’s also a fishmonger on site if you’d like to purchase fish to create your own masterpieces at home.

Pizza Express
137 Notting Hill Gate, W11 3LB
Website:
www.pizzaexpress.co.uk
Underground: Notting Hill Gate
Surely one of the nicest Pizza Expresses in London? One of the best things about this place is the wonderfully cosy atmosphere. A variety of pizzas on offer, yet they do other dishes as well (pasta & salads). The good thing about this place is that you could easily feed yourself for £10 if you don’t want to splash out. But if you do…

RAW at La Suite West

RAW
41-51 Inverness Terrace, W2 3JN
Website:
www.lasuitewest.com
Underground: Bayswater or Queensway
This vegetarian restaurant offers a tastefully designed, contemporary new health-focused option. From chic, alcohol-free “mocktails” to a meat free restaurant with a capacity of 50 seats, RAW is the new alternative lifestyle choice open to hotel guests and the public alike for all day dining plus afternoon tea. The head chef has designed a menu to provide some of the best that nature can offer, with a selection of vegan friendly, dairy free and raw dishes.

The Rum Kitchen
6-8 All Saints Road, W11 1HH
Website: therumkitchen.com
Underground: Westbourne Park or Ladbroke Grove
One of those places in London that opened to quite a lot of press and fanfare – another new “trendy” eatery for the beautiful people that you might do your best to avoid as that surely means it can’t be any good…right? Well, leave your doubts at the door and come and have some fun…with a side order of Caribbean food. Sure, this very brightly decorated places a huge emphasis on good times, but the food is actually pretty darn decent. There’s the usual dishes that you might expect, given the cuisine – jerk chicken, rice and peas, ackee and saltfish, gumbo – but plenty more tasty offerings besides. My only complaint is that the cocktails – given the prices – could be a little better. And certainly a little stronger.

Restaurants in Notting Hill - The Shed

The Shed
122 Palace Gardens Terrace, W8 4RT
Website: www.theshed-restaurant.com
Underground: Notting Hill Gate
Hailing from the West Sussex countryside, The Gladwin brothers run this restaurant from their own farm to each plate. Small plates similar to tapas are served for your table to share. Expect British classics and Shed favorites for everyone, whilst knowing your in a sustainable environment.

Taqueria
139 – 143 Westbourne Grove, W11
Website: taqueria.co.uk
Underground: Notting Hill Gate
This is my new favourite! But then again, I am a big fan of Mexican food, so perhaps that’s not so surprising. Upon ordering your chosen dish, you scoop it into small flour tortillas – together with various condiments – to make your meal. Modern decor, and fantastic cocktails (try the Margarita Flor de Jamaica), not to mention a vast selection of tequilas. Go there now!
