Christmas Oratario by the Addison Singers, 7th December

Following on from their earlier concerts this year, the Addison Singers Classical Choirs now turn to their Winter Concert which will be a choral winter feast for everyone to enjoy! Taking place at 7,30pm on Saturday 7th December, the evening will feature a programme that truly showcases seasonal music for Winter and Christmas.

The Chamber Choir will perform the winter-themed movements of Jonathan Dove’s The Passing of the Year, Poulenc’s Quatre Motets pour le temps de Noël and the ever-popular carol Sir Christèmas! in a setting by William Mathias. The Choir completes the cycle of songs by Jonathan Dove with The Passing of the Year focusing on those related to Autumn, Winter and the turning of the year. Poulenc’s Quatre Motets pour le temps de Noël focuses on different elements of the Christmas story. The concert will be introduced with Sir Christèmas!, a rousing invocation of the season.

The Oratorio Choir, meanwhile, will present one of the choral repertoire’s most kaleidoscopic and colourful pieces, Poulenc’s Gloria – an exhilarating, intricate, and wonder of word-setting and harmonic colour. They will also perform the soon-to-be modern classic, Bob Chilcott’s Christmas Oratorio – a vibrant and heartfelt modern retelling of, arguably, the most famous story ever told.

The Addison Singers Chamber Choirs look forward to welcoming you to their concert in December where they will be joined by a stellar line-up of soloists and instrumentalists.

Tickets cost £18 (or £3 for the under 16s) when booked in advance on www.addisonsingers.com. They can also be purchased on the door for £20 (£5 for the under 16s).
