Notting Hill - The Film

The film Notting Hill, starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts, was released in late Spring 1999, the "sequel" to the enormously popular Four Weddings and a Funeral both of which were written and produced by Richard Curtis.

Notting Hill had much in common with its predecesor. It seems that, according to Richard Curtis, there are certain roles that must exist in a film:

- the bumbling Englishman (Hugh Grant in both)
- the glamourous American (Julia Roberts and Andie MacDowell)
- the dim-but-ever-so-sweet gentleman
- the wise, slightly more serious woman
- the completely kooky-in-a-nice-way girl

I joke, of course. I personally wasn't quite as enamoured with Notting Hill as with Four Weddings, but it's a good film nevertheless.
