Reportedly the hotel that Julia Roberts stayed in when filming Notting Hill (and also featured in the film), this hotel will always be under any "Deluxe" heading in accommodation listings as it is one of the premier hotels in the whole of London. Very popular (and very swish) hotel which is made up of two Victorian houses, and which may account for the fact that most of the rooms differ in size and style. Although prices are high, most people think it is worth it. Also has a restaurant and a 24-hour bar. A whole host of celebrities have stayed here, and Blur singer Damon Albarn used to work here. Luckily, he doesn't anymore.
Portobello Gold
95 Portbello Road, W11
Underground: Notting Hill Gate Website:
Price Range: ££ - £££
A hotel right in the thick of the action, it was apparently the first hotel in London to offer a computer with email facilities in every room. Ahh, golden memories. There's a rather lovely ground-floor restaurant and a bar as well. There are various accommodation options available, from backpackers' rooms to a maisonette apartment. Check the website for full details. |
